Do you have to pay to be a Spectator at a MTG Grand Prix?

Asked by Bertie 13 years ago

Title says it all. I know you have to pay for entry but do you have to pay to go watch?

wow this is the longest i have ever seen a question go without a reply.

though i have not been to a grand prix i would expect that you wouldn't have to pay anything just to spectate the tourney. though on the other hand at grand prixes (or however the plural for prix is spelled) and other large tourney they tend to be more strict on the rules so they may not allow spectators at all to prevent the likely hood of cheating, but this seems unlikely.

sorry i couldn't answer your question. you could try goin to WotC's website or MTG's mainsite and ask them i think they would be able to give you a definite answer.

It will remain open until an answer is found!! =)

Bertie, if you find the answer elsewhere, please come back and answer it here too.

My guess is that it really depends on the Tournament Organizer, which are just stores. So I'm guessing they set the rules.

I went to GP Portland and played in the tourny. A couple of my friends came and they didnt have to pay a thing to spectate. You can, as a spectator, also join side tournies. Its pretty cool. The only thing you have to pay for is to participate in the Grand Prix and side tournies.
