Does cascade trigger from Mayael the Anima's Ability?

If I use Mayael's ability and an Enlisted Wurm is played, does it still cascade?

Unfortunately no, cascade only triggers when a spell is cast from your hand or when an effect tells you to put it on the battlefield "as if it were cast from your hand".

In a way "Cast" is sort of rules speak for "legitimately played from your hand like a normal spell would be".

Also links to the two cards:

Enlisted Wurm and Mayael the Anima

Also note that the text printed on Enlisted Wurm has been errata'd to say:

"Cascade (When you cast this spell, exile cards from the top of your library until you exile a nonland card that costs less. You may cast it without paying its mana cost. Put the exiled cards on the bottom in a random order.)"

The more detailed answer:

Rules definition of Cast: To take a spell from where it is (usually the hand), put it on the stack, and pay its costs, so that it will eventually resolve and have its effect.

Rule regarding cascade: 702.82a Cascade is a triggered ability that functions only while the spell with cascade is on the stack. [...]

So, since Mayael the Anima doesn't ever put the creature on the stack and the cascade triggered ability only functions on the stack, it clearly never has a chance to trigger.
