Does copying a spell count as casting a spell? (for storm ability)

Asked by dude1818 14 years ago

Here's the situation: first I cast a spell, A. Then I cast spell B with storm, and copy it once for casting A. Now I cast spell C. Do I copy it twice for A and B, or thrice for A, B, and B copy?

easy answer is no copying is not casting

ok here is a situation for ya... lets say your opp has been beating you in the face with Standing Troops it keeps hitting you for one and its annoying but all you have in your hand is two Grapeshot GRRR not enough to kill it by itself you top deck a Lightning Bolt OMG finally something to get rid of this lil bug first you cast the Lightning Bolt targeting the Standing Troops then cast the first Grapeshot it copies itself once (because the Lightning Bolt ) haha you can now kill this little bug where it stands you target it with one of the copies... but why not add a lil more pain to your foe for all he/she has done to you with this pest you cast your second Grapeshot it copies itself twice because two spells where cast before it this turn you have all of those hit your opp in the face... final effect Standing Troops takes 4 dmg and dies and your opp takes 4 dmg as he tastes your grapes of wrath

The copy created by storm is not a spell and thus doesn't count towards the storm count. Storm is actually a triggered ability of the spell that triggers while it is on the stack.

In short if you cast a spell like Brainstorm , followed by Ignite Memories , followed by Dragonstorm you will get the effect of the dragonstorm card plus two copies, not three.
