does deathtouch work with pariah?

Asked by the_lost_crimson_petal 13 years ago

is a creature dealt damage via pariah from a source with deathtouch still killed from the deathtouch even if it wouldn't have died from the damage alone?

Yes it would still die because of the second rule quoted here. regardless of where the damage came from. the same as if you used a card:Harm's Way or something similar to redirect the damage.

702.2b Any nonzero amount of combat damage assigned to a creature by a source with deathtouch is considered to be lethal damage, regardless of that creature's toughness. See rules 510.1c-d.

702.2d The deathtouch rules function no matter what zone an object with deathtouch deals damage from.

Pariah

I believe it would, Pariah's wording means it redirects the damage the creature would deal to you, which means the source (the creature) is the same and any other effects attached to it (deathtouch) remain active.

Yes.

The source of the damage still has deathtouch, regardless of redirection.
