Does Fling get effects?

If I Fling a creature that has double strike, Fling doesn't care about the double strike correct? It just looks for the power and deals exactly that correct?

yes, because fling deals the damage. It's not the creature dealing the damage. So it doesn't work with lifelink, infect, or any other "when this creature deals damage to a player" abilities.

You're right - double strike is an ability that doesn't manipulate the damage dealt, it actually an ability that stipulates the creature deals damage both in the first strike damage step and the normal damage step.
Fling also doesn't apply other effects, such as Infect or Wither, to the damage dealt because of the wording - it specifically says that Fling deals the damage, not the creature.
card:Soul's Fire, on the other hand, DOES apply effects like Infect or Wither to the damage, since it's the creature dealing damage. Double Strike still wouldn't affect it though.

for both parts of the question you are correct.
if fling had been worded similarly to card:Soul's Fire then a creatures characteristics would matter for damage effects such as infect, wither, deathtouch, and etc.
also using souls fire on a creature with doublestrike does not cause it to deal double the damage. doublestrike only pertains to combat
hope ive helped.

No it does not, because it says that Fling deals the damage, and Fling itself doesn't have double strike.
