Does Ghostway work in cascade form? or simultaneously?

Asked by Shyachi33 13 years ago

when Ghostway 's abilty to remove all of my creatures then bring them back at the end of the turn, does that mean all the creatures come back simultaneously? or do they cascade back onto the battlefield in the order i want it to? and when they come back in are they induced with summoning sickness?

and lastly, "at the end of your turn" mean that they come back technically still at my turn? or is it my opponent's turn?

At the endstep they return to the battlefield at the same time and for any "Entering the battlefield effects" they would see each other

So say you have a card that reads "When this card enters the battlefield you gain one life for each creature you control."

After you cast Ghostway at the end step, you would gain 1 life for each creature you ghostway because they all enter the field then our mystery card would trigger.

They all return to the battlefield simultaneously. If this triggers any effects, you put them on the stack in the order you choose.

They will all have summoning sickness, because you have not controlled them continuously since the beginning of your turn. They spent some time in exile, so when they return to the battlefield they are still feeling the effects of the journey, if you like metaphors.

"End of the turn" has been errata'd in most cases to "At the beginning of the end step". And yes, it means the next end step, so if you cast it in your opponent's turn they all return at the end of the opponent's turn.

All creatures put into play by a card effect are simultaneous unless otherwise specified. Creatures with enter-the-battlefield abilities go on the stack in the order that the active player chooses. Note that 'enter-the-battlefield' (was 'come-into-play' for older players) is not the same as 'cast' (or 'played'), therefore Emrakul, the Aeons Torn doesn't activate again.

Summoning sickness applies to your creatures in this situation because your upkeep has not passed when they return, meaning you cannot use 'tap: effect' abilities of creatures until your next turn.

And yes, it is still your turn. Following end-of-turn is the cleanup, when no abilities are on the stack and damage is removed from creatures. Then it is your opponent's turn.

no they don't all happen at once but you get to decide how they happen... kinda its still based on priority.

513.1. First, all abilities that trigger "at the beginning of the end step" or "at the beginning of the next end step" go on the stack. (See rule 603, "Handling Triggered Abilities.")

603.3b If multiple abilities have triggered since the last time a player received priority, each player, in APNAP order, puts triggered abilities he or she controls on the stack in any order he or she chooses. (See rule 101.4.) Then the game once again checks for and resolves state-based actions until none are performed, then abilities that triggered during this process go on the stack. This process repeats until no new state-based actions are performed and no abilities trigger. Then the appropriate player gets priority.
