Does Leyline of Sanctity protect planeswalkers?
Asked by Zgarbas 13 years ago
Because damage to planeswalkers has to be done to me and redirected towards them, does that mean that Leyline of Sanctity shrouds planeswalkers as well?
so in case that rule doesn't makes sense.
yes, Leyline of Sanctity protects planeswalkers from being targeted by something that has to target you and be redirected. anything that doesn't have to target you that could target another property of the planeswalker like Vampire Hexmage targets permanents can still target them. so not it doesn't give planeswalkers shroud. the only thing i know that it does help with is direct damage like Lightning Bolt or Cunning Sparkmage .

306.7. If noncombat damage would be dealt to a player by a source controlled by an opponent, that opponent may have that source deal that damage to a planeswalker the first player controls instead. This is a redirection effect (see rule 614.9) and is subject to the normal rules for ordering replacement effects (see rule 616). The opponent chooses whether to redirect the damage as the redirection effect is applied.
