does protection from red stop work against Chain Reaction?

Need to keep your allies safe from a chain reaction? Kabira Evangel + Splinter Twin + Chain Reaction and have fun!..........would that work or would chain reaction kill them anyway?

to be clear the splinter twin falls off after the token enters the battlefield and all your allies gain protection from red
so they will survive the chain reaction but at the cost of the splinter twin

xeratheenigma's right; Prot Red will indeed protect your creatures from the damage of Chain Reaction , but it also protects them from red enchantments, so your Kabira Evangel would lose its Splinter Twin .
Note that Protection from X stops damage but not destruction, so if you gave your creatures Prot White they still get destroyed by a Day of Judgment

simple answer yes it works
it would work to protect your from chain reaction. but the original evangel's splinter twin would fall off because it gained pro red
