Does protection work against global effects?

Does a metalcraft-Etched Champion still bite the dust from a Day of Judgment ? I'm assuming so, but I just want to make sure.

Yes, as it has protection from all colours but it's not indestructible, that is only really effective for targeted spells and abilities... day-of-judgement is akin to a global wipe effect.

It just doesn't target :(

For protection ask your self if it targets the card or deals damage to the card if so then it's protected.

If it does neither like in the case of Day of Judgment you are not protected.
