Does Shield of Kaldra allow me to use Goblin Firestarter's ability multiple times?

Ok. So I have a Goblin Firestarter equipped with a [[shield of kaldra]. Since it says destroy, rather than sacrifice, can I use his ability multiple times without him going to the graveyard? (same goes if I have a Mad Auntie on the table, can I regenerate him?)

The oracle text reads "Sacrifice Goblin Firestarter: Goblin Firestarter deals 1 damage to target creature or player. Activate this ability only during your turn, before attackers are declared." on starcity. So no, and no.
