Ghostly Prison vs. Militia's Pride
Asked by Zylo 14 years ago
Okay so, say I have Ghostly Prison in play. Let's say my opponent has card:Militia's Pride in play.
Well card:Militia's Pride puts the token in tapped AND attacking. My question is would my opponent have to pay 2 for each of those, if he couldn't what would happen, or would he not even be able to activate card:Militia's Pride?
I don't think he'd have to pay the 2 because he isnt technically declaring them as attackers, card:Militia's Pride is, but I'm not sure.
Alright, until someone else says otherwise I'll just go by that. Thanks.

I found this straight from wizard's FAQs for lorwyn.
Rulings:
"The token enters the battlefield attacking. It doesn't trigger "when a creature attacks" triggers and is not subject to restrictions on declaring attackers."
"You choose which player or planeswalker the token is attacking. It doesn't have to attack the same player or planeswalker as the creature that caused the ability to trigger."
Basically, the first ruling confirms your assumption. The tokens for card:Militia's Pride ignores the restrictions placed by Ghostly Prison . Restrictions are effects that make, normally, legal actions illegal.
The second ruling I added just as food for thought. Maybe you will find it useful? :P

Thank you very much thaimaishuu for the definite clarification!

Pretty sure you're right. They're not allowed to attack unless you pay two, but they never attack, they just skip right to "attacking".
