does it double then double? Lightning Bolt becomes 12? Fireball for 6 becomes 24?

Nope it doesn't deal quadruple damage. You still only deal double damage. Has to do with the way the card is worded.

Actually, the effects are cumulative, so the damage will get quadrupled if you have two Fire Servant s on the board.

@mistergreen...that's what I thought! As the fireball comes off the stack the first servant triggers. Then six is twelve, then once the first servant effect triggers, then the second making twelve twenty four. Because both servants could not trigger at the same time right? Nor would one NOT trigger...

Correct and incorrect at the same time. Both effects are triggered at the same time because you are only casting the one spell, but since they are affecting the same thing they resolve separately. If each trigger had a different target they would resolve at the same time, but in this case they target the same thing and therefore resolve one after the other.

To clear up what Leardawg said, whenever more than one triggered ability triggers at the same time, the active player puts all triggered abilities they control on the stack in whatever order they choose, and then each other player in turn order does the same. Then they all resolve in reverse order off the stack. No two effects can resolve at the same time.

However, Fire Servant 's ability is actually NOT a triggered ability, but is a replacement effect - it doesn't use the stack, etc., and happens as the spell (Ghitu Fire ) resolves. The rules are written such that if there are two instances of a replacement effect that doubles something, it will be quadrupled, and so forth. My Ghitu Fire for 5 on your end step is 20 damage with 2 Fire Servant in play.

It quadruples via replacement effect stack.

well technically it doubles (e.g. lightning bolt becomes 6) then doubles the doubled total (becomming 12) but i essence it is quadrupled.
