How do damage changers work together?
Asked by AwesomeDude7113 4 months ago
I am wondering about cards like Torbran, Thane of Red Fell, City on Fire, and Solphim, Mayhem Dominus. Do they like all work together or is it only one?

Wow. That is a lot more broken than I thought! I was told that the opponent could choose one and that was it. I am surprised that more people don't use this strategy more. Thank you very much Rhadamanthus!

These effects can all work together, but who decides the order can change depending on the specifics of the situation.
If multiple replacement effects could modify how an event affects an object or player, then the affected player or controller of the affected object (or owner if it has no controller) chooses one to apply first, then checks for any unused replacement effects that could still apply to the modified event, then continues choosing one by one until there's nothing left to apply.
This means in an example where you control all of these and damage is about to be dealt to your opponent or one of their creatures/planeswalkers, they will be the one who gets to decide what order to apply the effects in. If they're thinking things through, they can minimize the impact by choosing to apply Torbran's effect last.
