How do you stop Bojuka Bog

Asked by Xander574 14 years ago

Is there a way to stop it from coming out? get rid of it. just make it so it doesnt get rid of my library or i get rid of it first?

You could counter the ability with Stifle , Trickbind , or Voidslime .

You could also change the target of the ability with Willbender .

Finally, you could make it lose the ability all together by using Blood Moon or Magus of the Moon .

it doesn't get rid of your library, it gets rid of your graveyard.

but also, to add to the question: could you use something like Wrecking Ball to destroy it before its ability resolves? I know lands don't use the stack, does that include their abilities?

nothing in standard though?

Nope, no tricks in standard at this moment in time can stop a Bojuka Bog except perhaps maybe Mindbreak Trap ?

But even at that, the Bojuka Bog is an ability, don't know if it will actually remove it as it's not technically a spell... or is it? :)

@ilikeoldcardsbetter:

Lands don't use the stack. However, their abilities do. Bojuka Bog 's ability is a triggered ability that goes on the stack when it enters the battlefield. You could Wrecking Ball in response to the ability going on the stack, but the ability will still resolve afterwards.

@Xander574:

Nope, I don't believe there is currently anything in standard that can stop the ability.

@cardcoin:

Unfortunately, Mindbreak Trap won't work. Bojuka Bog itself isn't a spell, while the exile graveyard trigger is an ability.

Memoricide is going to be your best way to fight it.

Memoricide only gets rid of nonland cards though, so that doesn't work either.

There are still ways around Bojuka Bog in standard. Leyline of Sanctity for example prevents you from been targeted by it. I'm sure there are other ways just gotta dig deeper. :]

Good call on the Leyline of Sanctity ! I totally forgot about that one!

Lavaball Trap , Tectonic Edge , are two standard spells you could use to deal with the ability instantly, otherwise you would have to be able to have a Leyline of Anticipation out and be able to use either some green spells such as Acidic Slime or some red spells such as Demolish , Goblin Ruinblaster with the kicker, or Melt Terrain . Just in case you forgot the key part of the sentence before, any of those last few cards MUST HAVE Leyline of Anticipation out on the field to work. I hope this helps.

@nani75185

Unfortunately, those won't stop the ability from resolving. In order to destroy Bojuka Bog , it has to be on the battlefield. This means that its ability has already triggered. Even if you destroy it while its ability is on the stack, the ability will still resolve.

Leyline of Sanctity seems to be the only choice...there is no [[duress] esc card that can get rid of lands?

Hurrr Psychic Miasma .

Really though, sanctity is your best shot. You may just have to ignore it. Are you playing some sort of vengevine deck? What's your specific dilemma? I assumed it was that you thought it could kill the library.
