How does AEther Tradewinds interact with Precursor Golem?
Asked by Terramune 14 years ago
Say i target my Precursor Golem with aether-tradwinds. When the winds is copied, would it let me choose new targets for me to bounce on their side of the field also??
I disagree. The spell is copied for each other golem it can target, therefore the entire spell would copy, which means you would have more opponent bounce. It is a new spell each time it targets a golem.

The Precursor Golem is copying the spell for each golem on the battlefield that is a valid target. Because the entire spell is copied, you do get to bounce a creature you don't control for each golem you control.

Actually, AEther Tradewinds won't get copied at all because it targets more than a single golem. Anything with more than one target will not trigger Precursor Golem 's ability.

It is Target Permanent. Which means it will you will only target 1 golem with it. Thus it will copy to all other golems.

In order for the spell to copy, it must have only one target and that one target must be a golem permanent.
AEther Tradewinds has two targets. One of them could be a golem, but since it has another target, it will not get copied.

mistergreen, you are absolutely correct. That will teach me to RTFC, lol.
So both of the answers are incorrect. The answer is it will go off like a normal spell. There will be no copies made.
Thanks mistergreen527

mistergreen527 is correct.
this also brings up some potential abuse of Precursor Golem - play, bounce the original with AEther Tradewinds , replay, get more tokens, laugh evilly. If you manage to keep the actual card itself off the battlefield by playing the tradewinds during the same main phase as it, you can have a large army of golems without the whole targeting 'issue'. That just happen to be artifacts. Tempered Steel , anyone?
I need to make that deck...

no, it creates copies of the spell that target the other Golems. You do not get to choose the targets of the coppied spells.
