How does Copperhorn Scout work?
Asked by yahboyeee 13 years ago
ok so after much discussion with my friend we've come to the conclusion that neither of us is sure how copperhorn scout works. say i attack with a Nissa's chosen, an Ezuri's brigade and a copperhorn scout. Do the Nissa's Chosen and Ezuri's Brigade's attack's get cancelled when they untap or do they untap but remain attacking?
Furthermore, let's say you tapped Llanowar Elves during your first main phase for mana. Then, once you have declared Copperhorn Scout as an attacker, Llanowar Elves untaps, and you can tap him again for more mana.

Note here that once you have untapped that Llanowar Elves, you can NOT declare it as another attacker, since the declare attackers step has passed.

You declare attackers individually, so you could declare attacks with Copperhorn Scout untap the Llanowar Elves and then declare attack with the Llanowar.

No you don't. At the beginning of the Declare Attackers step, you choose which of your creatures, which must not have summoning sickness and be UNTAPPED, will attack. Then any effects triggered by this go on the stack. Once Llanowar Elves is untapped, it is too late for you to declare any further attackers.

Siegfried is correct.
508.1. First, the active player declares attackers. This turn-based action doesnt use the stack.
508.2. Second, any abilities that triggered on attackers being declared go on the stack.

The mana will disappear at the end of phases unless something like Omnath, Locus of Mana is in play. There are other cards with similar effects.

Think of Copperhorn Scout as giving your other attacking creatures vigilance when it attacks. A creature need not be tapped to attack. Thus, card:Nissa's Chosen and card:Ezuri's Brigade's attacks still happen.
Note: Copperhorn Scout will be the only attacking creature tapped after the combat phase.
