How does infect work against player?

Asked by DizzyDude 14 years ago

For example: I was in a pre-release draft and we went by the rules you get X amount of Poison counters for X amount of damage the creature has. Is this right, or is it always just 1 poison counter?

Infect is a static ability whereby damage dealt to a player by something with infect causes that player to gain that many poison counters - an unblocked Putrefax hits for 5 counters.

One thing of note regarding Infect. Against Plainswalkers it's counted as normal damage to them because of the way in which infect is regarded.

Infect deals poison counters instead of damage so a Ichorclaw Myr deals damage to a player, instead of taking 1 damage that player gets one poison counter
