How does Rebound work?

Asked by Fanfax 14 years ago

When you cast a spell which has rebound when you recast it with without paying its mana cost does it still count as a spell

Yes, it is still a spell being cast. It is subject to all effects that target spells, such as counters.

Basically, when you cast a spell with rebound, the next turn you get to play it for free without paying its mana cost, then exile it after.

When I use rebound to play it for free do I receive the spell during my upkeep?

Yes, at the beginning of your next upkeep. If there is no legal target or you choose not to use it, the spell is still exiled from play.

How would I be able to use Distortion Strike rebound on my upkeep on a tapped creature.is upkeep before you untap creature and lands? Or you can use rebound spell any time during that same turn?

it goes endstep, untap, upkeep, draw, main. so you get to untap your creatures. also because distortion strike only says target creature you can put it on a tapped creature if you havent untapped it yet.

Just one correction to what nani75185 said:

If a spell gets cast for free at the upkeep because of rebound, it will go to the graveyard. It will only remain exiled if you choose not to cast the spell, you can't cast the spell due to no valid targets, or if the ability gets countered (from Stifle , for example).

So, just to clarify, if I played Center Soul my first turn, I couldn't cast its rebound on, say, the second main phase of my next turn?
