if a creature with Umezawa's Jitte has double strike, will it get 4 charge counters when it attacks?

Yes it would gain 4 by my understanding. The text of card:Umezawa's Jitte reads "Whenever equipped creature deals combat damage, put two charge counters on Umezawa's Jitte."

MTG Comp Ruling 702.4b dictates that combat damage would be assigned twice, meaning it would do damage twice, thus prompting the triggered ability of card:Umezawa's Jitte twice, giving it 2 counters each time.

It will gain 4 counters on it.

Any ability that reads : whenever [something] do that, it will trigger for any time that something is happening.

In this case, Jitte has a combat damage restriction. A creature with double strike will do damage 2 times : once in the first strike damage subphase, and second in normal strike damage subphase.

However if the creature is blocked, and the blocker dies(or is removed from combat/disapears) in the first strike step, the double striker will not deal normal damage, and the jitte will gain onyl 2 counters.

The counter gain is a triggered ability, and it can be responded to. so after first strike step, it will gain 2 counters, (so the jittel will have x+2), and then another 2, not 4 in a single swing.

In this case it is possible, to attack with duelist, deal 1 first strike damage, and then remove counters from jitte to pump, and deal anothre 5 damage in normal strike step, and gaining another 2 counters on the jitte.
