If I have Leyline of Anticipation out can I use Kor Skyfisher to effectively counter removal?

Asked by Crothselm 14 years ago

After thinking about it for a while, I'm concerned that I've been making a play mistake. I played a U/W deck with Leyline of Anticipation for a few things. One of the plays I made was responding to kill spells with Kor Skyfisher to bounce whatever was targeted. But after thinking about it for a while, I'm wondering if the Skyfisher's ability would be treated as a delayed trigger and would wait for the stack to finish resolving before triggering. Can anyone clarify?

As far as I understand, Leyline of Anticipation turns Kor Skyfisher into an instant. When one plays an instant in response to something, that instant resolves prior to the action that is being responded to.

My understanding of the rules would be that the Doom Blade , for example, that is targeting a creature of yours would resolve after Kor Skyfisher comes into play and bounces the target, causing the Doom Blade to fizzle.

I could be wrong here, but I can see nothing in the text of the cards to prevent this.

No, actually, you're doing it right.

The Skyfisher's EtB ability goes on the stack normally, so it'll resolve before your opponent's kill spell. At least, that's how I understand it to work.

I'll go research it to double check. But I'm fairly positive that this works.

I believe awesomusprime is correct on this one. What the leyline has effectively done is turn your creatures into instants, with all the shenanigans that entails. Remember the faeries?
