If i have metalcraft can Etched Champion be targeted by colored spells before it enters play?

If I use Etched Champion while I already had 3 artifacts on the battle field, can he be targeted by colored spells before he comes into play?

Yes, Etched Champion as a spell can be targeted because it has protection from all colors only while it is on the battlefield, that's how protection works. So, Etched Champion can still be countered.
