if I play Big Game Hunter and no opponents have creatures w/ power 4 or greater, what do I do?

Asked by ilikeoldcardsbetter 14 years ago

another example of this would be Cloudchaser Eagle

do I have to destroy one of my own creatures /enchantments. or do I ignore the effect

you have to target one of your own.

I dunno if that's true. Nekrataal doesn't require you to destroy anyone. Or at least that's not how I ever played him. =)

If there is any creature with power 4 or greater (even if it's yours) you must target it (or one, if there are multiple). However, if there is no creature on the battlefield that has a power 4 or greater, you don't have to.

If the efffect goees to stack and owner hass creeaturee/enchantmeent then the opponent bounnces/sacrifices/whateverr... then the effect fizzles.

If however the effect hass yet to go onto the stack, and opponnent does this, then you need to target something. come into play effects fizzle, instants can not be played.

For Big Game Hunter , you must target a creature with power 4 or greater (even if it is your own). If there is no legal target, nothing happens. For Cloudchaser Eagle , it works the same way. You must target an enchantment. If there is no legal target, then nothing happens.

If the card does not say "may," you must do it. If there are no legal targets then nothing happens.

To YeaGo, Nekrataal requirements are specifically to be non-black and non-artifact. Making it only slightly harder to find a legal target. This is probably why you are never required to kill anyone. :]
