if i sacrifice a creature to add mana to my mana pool do i still get the mana?

i have a goblin-prospector and i want to sacrifice himself for a mountain does it still give me the mana or does he still have to be there for the ability to go off.

If you activate the kirk-prospector's ability you will move the creature to the graveyard and add the ability to the stack. Then when the ability resolves you will add one red mana to your mana pool.
