If I use painful quandry and Quest for the Nihil Stone would they create a soft lock?

I know this spell combination Wouldn't be able to go off until turn 6. If I am reading these cards correctly, This combination could potentially lock out the opponent from ever being able to do anything.
Would it actually cause a soft lock?
I agree, its a lot to get set up and isn't really worth it. It sounds great in theory but in reality it just doesn't really seem feasible.

yea it would be extremely time consuming to do in game. and all they would have to do is get rid of one and the lock would be gone. back to nature would destroy the whole combo.

I actually like both of these cards and use them both in one of my decks, thing is I play a lot of multi-player games (where it is can be an just plain awesome combo), unfortunatly at least when I played them it was way to painstakingly slow as whether I played any edition standard to slow (I play all) I at least couldn't make it work and hope you find a way to do so, but have to agree with others it is just that it could be replaced with much faster win condition cards and combos.

Sorry to be specific when I played it 1 on 1 way to slow.

Well, Painful Quandary allows them to lose the life OR discard. Even with an active Quest for the Nihil Stone , they have the choice. Yes, they'd lose 5 life either way, but it's not really a lock, because they could just... take the damage and still cast their spell. The chance of doing them ten damage for casting and then being empty handed isn't really worth all the set up required.
