If one of my creatures has double strike and when i attack my first strike damage kills their only blocker. Does the normal combat damage deal to to the player?

This would be helpful for kiln fiend and assault strobe

no. when the blocker is declared the attack is redirected at the blocker. even if the blocker dies damage does not hit the player, unless the attacking creature in question has trample.

popeyroach is correct; once a creature is declared blocked, they're blocked no matter what.

This also mean, for instance, that you can pull sacrifice shenanigans with this. Say you have an Ember Hauler on the field. If an enemy swings with his Alpha Tyrranax , you can declare the Hauler as a blocker, then use his ability to sac and deal 2 damage before combat even happens, and the dinosaur will still be considered blocked and deal you no damage.
