If Reiver Demon is put onto the battlefield due to Deathrender does the demon's ability trigger?

If I put Reiver Demon into play from my hand by way of Deathrender (e.g. by sacrificing a creature that had deathrender equipped), does that count as playing reiver demon from my hand?
In other words, does his "Terror all creatures" (in a manner of speaking) ability trigger? I believe it does, since I've played it from my hand, but I'm not sure if "played from your hand" means casting. With deathrender, I'm "putting" the creature from my hand into battle.
Yeah, new errata on the Demon is "When Reiver Demon enters the battlefield, if you cast it from your hand, destroy all nonartifact, nonblack creatures. They can't be regenerated.". So Deathrender will not trigger Reiver Demon, sadly. Any other "enters the battlefield" effects will work, but nothing that requires casting.

i think the word play in the sentence is just an older way of saying "cast".
So i don't believe Reiver Demon 's ability will trigger because it wasn't cast from your hand!
