If you kill Shape Anew's target does it fizzle or is a new target chosen?

If my opponent cast Shape Anew and in response I kill his only artifact with Divine Offering , and I have artifacts on the field, does he have to target one of them? Or does it fizzle?

Shape Anew is countered (fizzles).

608.2b If the spell or ability specifies targets, it checks whether the targets are still legal. A target thats no longer in the zone it was in when it was targeted is illegal. Other changes to the game state may cause a target to no longer be legal; for example, its characteristics may have changed or an effect may have changed the text of the spell. If the source of an ability has left the zone it was in, its last known information is used during this process. The spell or ability is countered if all its targets, for every instance of the word target, are now illegal.

mafteechr is correct. Your opponent picked the target of Shape Anew when they cast it. If it's target becomes illegal (i.e. DIES) between the spell being cast and actually resolving, then the spell is countered by the game rules (formally known as 'fizzling').

I got this totally wrong with a friend, I tried to Terminate one of his faeries and he flashed in Scion of Oona in response, somehow we came to the conclusion that my Terminate now targeted the Scion, instead of fizzling like it should have.
