Is Nezumi Shortfang Flip's discard abiliy instant speed?

So the card Nezumi shortfang is pretty awesome but i wanted to know if his ability to have opponent discard was an instant or sorcery thing.. any ideas?

My understanding is that it is an ability and can happen at instant speed, granted no summoning sickness, mana, etc. But I look forward to being proven wrong.

Nope, you're right. Unless it specifically states otherwise, all activated abilities that aren't mana abilities can be activated anytime you could cast an instant.

Unless an ability specificly says that it can only be activated as a sorcery, it can be done at instant speed. Thus, Nezumi Shortfang 's ability is instant while a card like Dimir Guildmage is sorcery speed.

thanks a bunch guys I had no idea abilities could be played at instant speed.. so does that go for all non specific abilities similar like tap do 1 damage to target creature or player?
