leyline of sanctity

if i use Leyline of Sanctity i know it refers to me the player, and my creatures can still be targets of spells/abilites. my question is for some things i was wondering if they effect me as well such as liliana's caress or some stone (nil stone?) that makes me lose 5 life per upkeep if i have no cards since their descriptions are pretty general by saying "an opponent" or "you may choose if this ability happens" instead of blatantly saying "target".

If the card ability doesn't specifically say "target player" or "target opponent", then Leyline of Sanctity will not save you.

card:Liliana's Caress does not target, ("Whenever AN opponent discards") and thus evades the leyline.

Quest for the Nihil Stone triggers on "each opponent"'s upkeep, and thus also evades the player-shroud.
