Does Platinum Emperion save me from poison counters?

Asked by zigkid3 14 years ago

say i have Platinum Emperion out, and then my opponent hits my with an infect creature. obviously my health total doesn't change, but do i still go up poison counters because i was still technically hit? or no, because the hit didnt effect me and i didn't take any damage and the infect ability is "deals damage as -1/-1" and because i didnt take damage i dont get a counter?

Poison Counters do not damage life points. To creatures, Poison Counters are -1/-1 counters, once the creatures toughness reaches 0 they are sent to the graveyard. To Players, Poison Counters are for each one point of power is one poison counter dealt to the player, so a Hedron Crab with Tainted Strike if unblocked would deal 1 Poison Counter to the player. Once a Player has ten or more Poison Counters, they lose the game.

yes you will get poison counters from an infect creature even when platinum emperion is on the battlefield because prevents your life total from changing but it doesnt prevent damage

Yup, you still get poison counters because you got hit. If the damage was "prevented", however, from a spell like Soul Parry you would not be infected (because damage never went through).
