quest for pure flame+unblocked creature with double strike=2counters?

would an unblocked creature with double strike put 2 counters on quest for pure flame?
The short answer is yes.
The long answer is that when creatures with first strike and double strike partake in combat they modify the combat phase by adding a second Combat Damage Step. It's probably easiest to think of the added step as coming before the normal one as in the first combat damage step creatures that deal first strike/double strike damage deal their "first strike" damage. Then the second combat damage step occurs and creatures without first strike, as well as creatures with double strike, assign damage again.
With that in mind, note that the combat damage step (however many of them there are in a turn) handles three key things:
1) Player's assign damage of creatures they control that have valid damage to assign in this damage step. Damage assignment starts with attacking player creature by creature until all damage is assigned and then the blocking player does so as well.
2) Damage assigned in this combat damage step resolves all at once.
3) Triggered abilities resulting from damage being assigned or dealt go on the stack.
After that players can then respond as per normal.
Thus, a double strike creature would deal damage in the double strike combat step and trigger quest for pure flame. Then dealing damage in the second combat damage step it would again trigger quest for pure flame.

That is a bit of a confusing question but i am almost positive that the quest would not get 2 counters. this is because the text on the quest says "whenever a source you control deals damage" meaning that a creature, even though it has double strike, is only one source just as a creature without double strike is one source. -Hope this helps :)
