Semblance Anvil and Fireball, do I get 2 extra damage for it?

Asked by cardcoin 14 years ago

Semblance Anvil is on the field, and I cast Fireball for 5 damage. Do I get the benefit of getting 2 extra damage in (bringing the damage rack for 7, or am I still required to pay for it (due to x not being a set figure?)

you should be able to have your fireball deal 7 damage for the cost of 5 damage because the semblance anvil would reduce the cost of X by 2

Got verified on Wizards own Q & A site.

What you need to do is a bit of maths...

X + R where X is your mana THEN + 2 for the Anvil, so you need to declare this when your casting the spell. This will equate to 7 points of damage hitting the poor target.

The maths part is important, espicially for cards like Gelatinous Genesis ...

It will work like this...

X + X + G THEN +2.

If anyone is reading this, it might prove most useful :)

Yes the cost of fireball is reduced. The order is such that you declare the value of X and then you calculate the total cost of playing the spell, then you pay the cost.
