Timing and Copying Triggered Abilities
Asked by TehGrief 1 month ago
Player A controls Revel in Riches and has 10+ treasure tokens on their upkeep, putting the trigger on the stack.
Would Player B, who also controls 10+ treasure tokens, be able to use Return the Favor to copy the triggered ability and steal the win?

Yes.
When an ability triggers, it is put on the stack the next time players get priority. Revel in Riches' controller puts its upkeep trigger on the stack, then players get priority before it resolves. Casting an instant once the active player passes priority is a valid play, and the copy of the triggered ability would go above it on the stack, so if nothing else changes things, it will resolve first and Return the Favor's caster would win.
