to what extent can the stack be added onto and manipulated?

Asked by Shyachi33 13 years ago

for example if i have the 2 Myr Galvanizer s out and 1 of them is about to get lighting-bolt to stop my combo, can i in resopnse to that tap my myrs for mana, and in response to that tap my galvanizer to untap my myrs, and in response to that tap for mana again, and so on and so on. or this would not work because i would need to wait for the stack to resolve for the tapping and untapping to occur, thus i wouldn't be able to chain them all together?

or if a permanent were to use an ablility to destroy/exile/unsummon something, can i in response use Lux Cannon to destory the permanet, so it wouldn't exist anymore to do it's effect?

and lastly if i have Myr Welder imprinted with Lux Cannon and try to use it's ablility to destroy a permanent, and in response someone Doom Blade s my welder, can i in response to that have my galvanizer untap my other myrs (welder) and blow something else up to? or again that wouldnt' work cause i need to wait for the untapping to resolve on the stack in order to do something like that?

  1. If you have two myr galvanizers out then yes, you can charge up your combo with Lightning Bolt on the stack, because there is no clause that says you have to let the entire stack resolve once one action has resolved. So basically what you do is tap all of your myr for mana (which doesn't go on the stack), then you tap a galvanizer, and put its ability on the stack, let it resolve, but then respond to lightning bolt again by using you're other galvanizer. Repeat!
  2. No, if they tap their Royal Assassin to kill your Plated Geopede and you respond by tapping your Lux Cannon to destroy their Assassin, your Geopede still dies because the Assassin's ability is already on the stack, and it occurs whether the assassin is on the board or not.
  3. Yes, this sequence works for the same principal as sequence 1. You can untap the myr, let that resolve, and then respond again to doom blade by tapping your welder.

  1. yes you can repeat that process as much as you like before lightning bolt resolves.
  2. royal assasin still kills your eopead
  3. since you have to remove charge counters from myr weilder to activate the lux cannon effect you would need to have 6 cpunters on the myr to resolve both effects, or have the potential to add more counters with 2 galvinizers then activate the ability. if you only had 3 counters on the weilder then the second lux cannon ability would resolve but the first would not (i think)
