What are the best Jund cards to use with Mimic Vat?

Asked by therichterlens 13 years ago

Im currently forming a Jund deck focusing on Sarkhan the Mad and Mimic Vat . I'm looking for some good creatures that have good "when entering/leaving play" abilities to abuse Sarkhan's sac ability and the vat. So far i've definitely decided on using Sprouting Thrinax and Skinrender and possibly Acidic Slime but for some reason i can't think of any more. thoughts?

Mitotic Slime is always fun.

Pelakka Wurm is good too.

Terastodon is my favorite because of the removal ability.

Tuktuk the Explorer another great one.

Tuktuk is one of the bests, because the price concept associated with it. Meaning that Tuktuk can die earlier in the game than a Terastodon or Pelakka Wurm.

@TimProctor

i was considering Mitotic Slime and i had never even heard of tuktuk! thanks!

i'm trying to stray away from high cost creatures since they wont be coming til late game and most likely will not go down as easily.

Bogardan Hellkite is an evil one.

Any of the titans are hilarious. Inferno Titan , Primeval Titan , and Grave Titan . The bonus is that their abilities can activate twice because they not only enter the battlefield, but they gain haste so you can attack with them too!

Broodmate Dragon is a good one for Jund.

Caldera Hellion is a good one if you don't care about your creatures.

Conquering Manticore is a fun one.

if you are looking for a decent removal creature try Fleshbag Marauder he's just nasty when you can repeatedly pump him out at instant speed.

Be careful with Tuktuk...

the Golem artifact he creates is Legendary. If there are more than one of them on the board, they're all destroyed.

Now if you are willing to run non-standard then I'd add Sneak Attack and then throw in Terastodon .

wurmcoil engine, you get tokens every time you have to sacrifice the copy,

@plasticshrapnel actually i was originally thinking that, but you dont sacrifice the token, you EXILE it which means the engine doesnt go to the graveyard, which means no tokens.

otherwise that would make it an obvious choice. thanks though!

Well in that case, almost all of the options so far don't work and only the ones about entering the battlefield work.

Terastodon is the best especially with Sneak Attack

but aren't you trying to abuse sarkhan the mad with mimic vat as well so you could sac wurmcoil engine and sprouting thrinax tokens made by the vat to sarkhan after you attack with them.

@xeratheenigma

correct i am. and that would be the only way for me to get the tokens out of the wurmcoil or thrinax before they get exiled by the vat. that was my plan.

okay your it was just your last post threw me off a bit but after rereading it, it looks like you were clarifying how mimic vat works.

I know this is old but birthing pod works extremely well with vat.
