What happens if you bounce a Glimmerpoint Stag with a Glimmerpoint Stag?

Asked by Kalani 13 years ago

Can you set up an infinite loop or does the one bounced at the end of the turn just wait til the end of the next turn to reappear?

The ability only triggers at the beginning of the end step, so it'll wait until the owner's next turn to reenter the battlefield.

I disagree slightly with sporkife's comment -- I am pretty sure based on the wording that it will wait until the "next end step", meaning the opponent's end step.

cnielsen05 is correct. The wording on Glimmerpoint Stag states that the exiled creature will return to the battlefield at the beginning of the next end step, not owner's next end step.

Excuse me: exiled permanent, not creature.

The next end step is actually the next end step that comes up, regardless of who's turn it is.

So in the point of casting a Glimmerpoint Stag , THE NEXT END STEP will be your end step. (*your or the person who brought the stag into play.)

Now... Lets look at what your wanting to do? Your wanting to bounce your own stag with another stag, and to do this you play the 2nd stag targetting the first one.

Now, come the end of your turn

At the beginning of the end step, anything that states "At the beginning of the next end step..." or "at the beginning of your end step..." will trigger off their effects at that one and only time.

So stag's won't create an infinite loop, as checks for the beginning of the end step have already been done and the next time this happens will be the beginning of your opponents end step.

Hope this helps to clarify.
