what happens to Esperzoa if you have no artifacts in play?

incase the card doesn't show up when you scroll over; esperzoa : 'at the beginning of your upkeep, return an artifact you control to its owner's hand'

Then you pick up the Esperzoa , if it wasn't an artifact, then you would attempt it to the best of your ability, and pick up nothing.

Since it's type is Artifact Creature- Jellyfish, it can be the target of anything that could target an artifact, or a creature, also anything that could target a jellyfish.
