What happens when my opponent casts a kicked Gatekeeper of Malakirfoil while i have a Tajuru Preserver out?

Asked by Scotty4u 13 years ago

Here's the scenario. I have Tajuru Preserver on my side of the field. My opponent is playing mono black and casts a kicked Gatekeeper of Malakir . What would happen? Would I sacrifice a creature? I'm not sure because "Tajuru Preserver" says permanants...

Someone help :D

I believe that, if he does in fact target you, you would not have to sacrifice a creature. Creatures are permanents and the kicker of the Gatekeeper is an ability.

So, short answer: I think not.

ur an illegal target for malakir. it CANT cause u too sac. cant > can, cant is prevention, can is allowance. u are prevented from sacing, but malakir says u can sac.

Not quite right, but close, Nick.

You CAN be targeted with the ability. However, because the "can't" always beats the "can," you don't have to sacrifice anything. In short, Tajuru Preserver beats Gatekeeper of Malakir . And don't forget that creatures ARE permanents!
