I see standard and legacy on different decks what do they mean?

Essentially what card pool is used to construct the deck, each with its own limitation and restrictions.

Standard includes the most recent core set, and the two most recent expansion blocks, namely: (as of 01/11/10) M11, Zendikar block, and Scars of Mirrodin block. Each time a new core set is released, the previous core set leaves standard; Each time the first set of a new block is released, the oldest block in standard leaves in its entirety. So even though Scars is only on its first set, as soon as it came out, all three Shards sets left standard.

Legacy includes everything, with a few cards listed as either 'restricted' or 'banned,' the former meaning that you can only play with one copy in your deck as opposed to four.
