What is the ruling on how to use velkaden infuser's charge counters?

Asked by Wah6313 13 years ago

If I use a Liquimetal Coating to make Magosi, the Waterveil an artfact at the beginning of my upkeep, could I use velkaden-infuser's ability to put a charge counter on Magosi, the Waterveil ? Would it count as an eon counter? Or does the charge counters only work on cards that have counters names as "charge" on then like Chimeric Mass ?

Vedalken Infuser 's text says "charge counters", Magosi, the Waterveil takes eon counters. You can't charge Magosi but you can charge Chimeric Mass .

You could put a charge counter on Magosi that way if you like, but only removing an eon counter allows you to take an additional turn. Wouldn't do much good, as it were.

I don't believe you can. When you put the ability on the stack you choose targets and Magosi isn't a legal target at that time. There's no space in time to activate Liquimetal Coating first.

You're right. I thought Vedalken Infuser said "During your upkeep," rather than "At the beginning of your upkeep." Gotta RTFC.
