What other cards work like putrid imp for discarding first turn
Asked by Spittymcfireman 13 years ago
I want to make a deck where I discard big creatures and then bring them back to the battlefield early. Putrid imp seems to be the best card for early discard. What are some other strategies?

Mm, almost forgot Psychatog , who not only powers up from discarding, but also by removing cards from the graveyard, meaning the first ability fuels the second and allows for truly ridiculous buffs.
Actually, come to think of it, do a Gatherer search for "discard a card:" in the rules text of the card (that text precisely, and don't forget the quotes); it should bring you almost everything that has discarding as an activation cost. Should provide you the most thorough results.

if your building a reanimator deck Entomb is one of the best though a bit exspensive and it lets you pull a creature straight out of your deck to your graveyard

Putrid Imp
Based on the Imp, I'm guessing you mean you're looking for ways to discard cards, rather than the creatures you'd like to bring back, right?
Well, the most famous card for exactly this strategy is Wild Mongrel . Also, there's a large supply of creatures with the Spellshaper subtype.
Also look into cards with the Madness mechanic. They'll allow you to both discard them AND cast them, usually at a reduced price. Tailor-made for this sort of strategy.
