What would "artifacts get +1/+1" do to a noncreature artifact?
Asked by dude1818 14 years ago
I know that if I had a card that said "all artifacts get +1/+1" my artifact creatures would be boosted. Would a noncreature artifact just ignore the ability?
Sure they could get +1/+1 counters, but if they're not creatures they won't make use of them. So ignore the ability for non-creatures.

They wouldn't get counters, but just have +1/+1 added onto their current PT. Since artifacts aren't creatures, they can't attack or block so it wouldn't make a difference anyway. It's only if you have March of the Machines or similar cards that it would actually boost those artifacts up.
For example, you have Seat of the Synod and Ancient Den out and you activate March of the Machines . If you had your boosting card out, they would become 1/1 artifact creatures until either card leaves the battlefield.
What card are you talking about with this ability anyway?

Unless I'm mistaken, all cards that give +1/+1 to artifacts specify creatures. Now, it is allowed to put +1/+1 counters on a non-creature artifact, but said artifact doesn't become a creature as a result.

Yes the noncreature would just ignore the ability unless it were to become a creature (Such as Chimeric Staff )
