When you have an ally out do you have to play another ally to trigger its ability or does it just have to share a creature type?

When you have an ally creature out and put out another creature with certain type/subtypes does it mean other creatures you play that say ally in the sub type? or any creature that shares a subtype or possibly a type with it? example Umara Raptor if I play a bird are they allies? not 100% sure so just wanted to clarify.

It's a sub-type of card, it has too say ally behind their type. Other bird creatures dont count as allies.
