Infect 2025...

dannecticut is right. There's a reason infect is as stapled together as it is; the format is very resistant to one-off Archetype decks, especially in like a top 8 headspace. When it gets down to it, you'll have matches that you'll flunk. But build your deck however best suits your playstyle and makes you happy. You Can't win them all, but you can win your way! I hope the commentary is helpful because a lot of the users here have great suggestions, I'd really recommend you consider them all.

Everything about this, from the development of a heartfelt deck that was shelved for a much later adventure, to being redeveloped and brought back to life for a beloved character and what they represent.. only to meme them with an iconic ass "I lived, bitch.." is just.. chefs kiss material. I aspire to one day develop a deck like this, as it does remind me of my Greenbeans build, but I want this for something specifically from Tarkir. We'll see what happens later this year! And this wouldn't be a true comment unless I had a recommendation, right? So what about Postmortem Lunge?

sergiodelrio what you're saying is unfortunately true; the majority (lowkey ALL) of my interaction has been away from the LGS for about.. three to four years now. these type of decks are always welcome among my friends because we're not going for true "meta-dominating" decks anymore because as NoobNoob275 will testify, that would mean all four players in our pod playing Abhorrent Oculus variants that include something like Psychic Frog for value. Murktide Regent decks are still prevalent and it's like.. just a stale competitive environment overall in terms of individuality. I'm content playing at technical tier 2, but I ADORE getting the homies excited to brew again. Always up for the conversation so don't be afraid to tag me in it!

I appreciate this deck as sort of a jumping off template- only just now taking some time to comb through some of your lists, and I'm very pleased to see how flavorfully they appear to be built and labeled. I'm excited since 8.5 is one of my more favorite commanders from OG Kamigawa block. +1!

sergiodelrio you absolute mad man. I am infatuated with the unorthodox nature of this deck, much like what Balaam__ had said above. This deck is a thing of beauty, and you've got me trying to think of a way to exploit the Shadowborn Apostle thing you mentioned, where it removes a grand portion of your own deck. I think you've made an accidental meta-breaker shell.

Balaam__ it's nice to see you posting a list like this! Seems like something I could potentially use. Very cool, middle-of-the-road kinda deck mechanically, but the idea behind it? Incredible. I agree with capwner that something like Seasoned Pyromancer would be extra useful for you. kamarupa makes a really great point that a few cards like Meltdown, Abrade (can't remember if that's the artifact one), etc. that one-off target an artifact. Some instant-speed removal pieces would help defend against your worst matchups with Leyline of the Void, Tormod's Crypt, and other grave-hating decks. Speeding up your process with cards like Flare of Cultivation might really make that an unexpected victory!

#1Bookrook I disagree- Shadow Shell has room for three color splash, even duo-colored splash mechanics and often wasn't too hurt by the prospect. Grixis (blue, black, red) or Jund (black, red, green] were popular shards in the meta.
For Rowan, Scion of War I see recursion and removal package for a midrange build. Is it slower? Yeah. But is it a bad recommendation? Not at all! It just depends on what splash or shade you want for this build. It's for that reason your suggestion is kept. Because while I won't use it, it doesn't mean that it won't contribute to the shell/idea and potentially help someone else build this, too. Thanks for your commentary.
