I started playing Magic shortly after Ice Age came out. A neighbor, whom I'm still friend's with, got some starter decks and we taught ourselves to play with an Ice Age rules book. Our epic battles would last days: Seriously, we knew so little about deck building and how to play that a game would start one evening, we'd play so late that one of us had to return home, we'd sketch down board state on a piece of paper, and continue the next day. And I've been hooked ever since. In didn't help that we were constructing decks of every card we owned. A trip to the local mall, where a short-lived game store was located, introduced us to people who actually knew how to play and taught us deck building. Sol Rings were $10 bucks, revised dual lands were $25, and the Power 9 Moxen were all around $100, which was way out of our league then. /end old man rant

I'm a strict acolyte and protector of what EDH is supposed to be (a CASUAL format), and I hate it when people net-deck some uber-competitive deck because all they play is Standard, they love being competitive, and they heard about EDH. In my opinion, you shouldn't be strictly playing to win in EDH. Sure, you should be trying to win the game you're involved with (or enabling everyone else: Group Hug), but when you sit down for that kind of time commitment, it's not about a match record: It's about hanging out with people who love Magic - possibly good friends - and having fun. That's how EDH started, and I'm trying to preserve that tradition without being a jerk about it. /steps down from soapbox

By the way, my username refers to one of my favorite cards, Berserk. It's "BerserkWin" because usually when casting Berserk, your creature is attacking an opponent for lethal damage, and you say "Berserk. Win?"
