My main advice is just to play multiple decks. Any deck that is the only thing you play is going to get old eventually, especially a very linear deck like storm. Don’t overthink it and build the deck you have the most fun playing with proxies. When that gets old, you can get a new one. Usually, two very budget decks are better than one expensive deck.

Felipix Based off of your other posts, you said that your semi-giving up magic. Do you have any other commander decks that are mono blue that you like? Also, why are you so dead set on playing just one individual magic deck? On the topic of a storm deck, it would be a lot easier if you could use other colors, mainly red.

You have a lot of etb triggers, so you might consider running Elesh Norn, Mother of Machines or Delney, Streetwise Lookout.

Probably too slow, but Rowan, Scion of War comes to mind.

I agree with wallisface. Just because your deck has a lot of creatures doesn’t mean that other creatures have inherent synergy.

If you look at the arena card pool, you can see that most of the eight drops are game winners. Meanwhile, unless you hit a mana dork, the one drops aren’t very impactful

January 19, 2025 8:51 p.m.

I personally skip my three drop on the play so I can hit eight every turn.

I mean, Wowzer is a 10/10, so you could probably surprise one-shot somebody with Temur Battle Rage and any power buffer.

phyrexia simulator

Artifact creature-phyrexian construct

Infect

At the beginning of your upkeep, target opponent creates a token that’s a copy of phyrexia simulator, then that player sacrifices a non token creature. 2/2 Gives your opponents copies of itself rather then taking control of the game permanently.

Make a lifegaining multicolored turtle with power twice it’s toughness or vice versa

That’s interesting, I found that you should usually skip your one drop if your on the draw and both your one drop and three if your on the play. Two drops have the highest odds of getting a mana dork or getting Dark Confidant which pretty much wins you the game. This allows you to make eight drops every turn.

berryjon thanks! I swear I’m not a WOTC employee and had no clue that this event was going to start. I played a game where I got pretty much the best stuff possible. I got Dinrova Horror into Toxril, The Corrosive into Griselbrand into Blazing Archon. My opponent just conceded at that point. I was looking for more of the Momir strategy than raw gameplay. Don’t get me wrong, I love that you made an entire article with over a half hour of gameplay just on my request, thank you. Do you know any strategy that helps you win more matches? “I’ll take the murderous rider because I’m a bastard.” That quote will inspire me forever.

For the maybeboard, I wouldn’t add any of the cards, they all seem too slow.

The extra buff from Flowering of the White Tree is often unnecessary, as jodah will usually make your creatures big enough. Rienne, Angel of Rebirth feels redundant as you already have so many ways to get back from the graveyard.

I 100% agree with wallisface about the ghired deck, you could use literally any other mana dork. With the chalune deck, I personally wouldn’t use wood elves, but I wouldn’t blame anyone for it.

Logical arguments why storm crow is the best card in the game: 1. Force of Will is a legacy staple. Storm crow has “exile this card from your hand, discard a card named force of will, pay one life: counter target spell.” Strictly better fow. 2. Storm crow has flying, which means it has “tap: deal damage to storm crows power to target player or planeswalker. Activate only if opponent controls no creatures with flying or reach.” 3. If your opponent has exactly one life, and your opponent has 100 of the second best card in the game, Colossal Dreadmaw, you can still win the game. 4. If you have Worship in play and a storm crow, it turns into a Platinum Angel.

wallisface do you know any examples of situations where there is a mathy reason to play more than sixty?

January 12, 2025 6:51 p.m.

Is there any value in playing more than sixty cards in constructed formats? Other than cards that specifically care about having more cards in your deck, like Battle of Wits or Yorion, Sky Nomad or combatting a mill deck? The reason I ask this question is because I see people playing about seventy cards or more on arena.

seshiro_of_the_orochi those are the elf warriors I was thinking of. So I have now: lifegain, elves, warriors, aristocrats, umori, and I realized I could play voltron with some bestow creatures and counters. That’s six lines, which should be enough. Thank you all!
