I started playing in Magic late-2013 when I picked up a M13 Deckbuilders Toolkit (Daybreak Ranger was the first Rare I ever opened! :) ) from a local game store and asked my sister how to play! I played Yu-Gi-Oh! at the time and wanted to see what this other game was all about!

Instantly became hooked and started playing 60 card casual with friends which led to very casual EDH play on the side. I started wanting to level up my game and began playing in FNMs, PTQs/RPTQs, and GPs in an attempt to go pro.

This led to me being super involved and if I wasn't playing Magic I was watching gameplay. If not watching gameplay, I was reading articles. If not reading articles, thinking about the game. This developed into a very unhealthy relationship with the "hobby" and I was so focused on winning and results that fun wasn't even in the picture.

I stopped playing competitive Magic around 2017 due to burnout and financial reasons and turned my full attention to EDH, though my personality of "victory above all" remained. I started a Cube and The Chromatic Project as my "goals" for Magic as opposed to tournament finishes. I realized from friends and my relationship with my then-girlfriend that I was not much fun to play with and started to work on that. Then in 2021 I was physically injured in the gym and herniated a disc.

This injury helped me stop for the first time in life and analyze where I was at and why I was doing the things I was doing. I reassessed my relationships with myself, others, and the world around me - Magic included. I recognized that I had a very unhealthy relationship with Magic and decided to become the learner with my wife and rediscover the game I fell in love with.

I have since experienced a "Magic Renaissance" and have taken control of the hobby, cultivating my collection into something more intentional and manageable in the process. I have retired the Chromatic project, but still love the decks I have kept! My lists are now packed with more flavor/theme and are more true representations of myself in life and the game. Now, utilizing the most beautiful/fitting art and having fun is the priority.

I also and build "Seasonal Decks" that evoke the theme of the current season and continue to manage my Cube which has provided tons of hours of fun.
