MTG List: Zada’s Wolfpack

Darkewarrior

Description

Zada, Hedron Grinder and Silverfur Partisan are back at it again; This time, they’re taking they’re fight to the Pioneer format!

Turn 1: Village Messenger  Flip/Kessig Prowler  Flip Possibly swing for 1

Turn 2: Duskwatch Recruiter  Flip Swing for 1-2 depending on turn 1

Turn 3: Ulvenwald Captive  Flip/Duskwatch Recruiter’s ability, swing for 3-7

Turn 4: Silverfur Partisan + any 1 mana Instant (make a wolf), swing for 3-10+ bonus from instant (max +6 to damage from instant)

Turn 5: Zada, Hedron Grinder + any 1 mana instant/Sorcery (makes lots of wolves/swing lethal), swing for 7-14+ bonuses from instant/sorcery (max +56 to damage from instant/sorcery)

Now, typically on turn 6 you’ll have 10-14 wolves/werewolves swinging in for an avg of 2 damage for each creature... and that’s before you cast an instant/sorcery targeting Zada

That’s 20-28 damage on turn 6 without casting an instant/sorcery

not bad, right?

Even if you don’t deal lethal damage on turn 6 (that should almost never happen unless we’ve been board wiped), if you target Zada with just 1 spell You’ll leave behind 20-28 blockers

“That's terrifying!” You may say, but wait, here’s the kicker

You’ll average at least 3 spells in hand that you can use to target Zada on turn 6

“So, that’s a f*ck off number of wolves right?”

If the second spell You cast on turn 6 is Expedite You’ll have a minimum of 40 wolves/werewolves ... 20 hasted and available to attack...

“But, you have to be careful with that because if you don't have enough cards and go to draw you’ll instantly lose the game”

Well, 20 cards drawn on turn 6 won’t kill you... BUT WAIT!!!

THERE’S MORE!!!

If even just 1 of those cards is Enter the Unknown... turn 6 gets even more hot and heavy

So, You just drew over a third of your deck, and with that, a bunch of land...

“Whoa dude....” You may say, “So by turn 6 you could play a third of your deck as a buff spell?!?!”

Exactly

Now, as long as You’re not constantly going all out, and saving Zada and Silverfur, Settle the Wreckage will never be a problem “free land in exchange for tokens? Sure, why not”

Even if You swing with every hasted wolf on turn 6, but save Zada(there is almost no reason you should EVER attack with Zada) and silverfur, and keep 2 mana open (not a problem really) you’ll be safe and still have hundreds of wolves to repopulate your “Masses” next turn!

“What if they have bigger creatures than me?”

Well, I’m glad you asked, play Might of the Masses when you block.

Why? Because f*ck you and the Emrakul you rode in on
