TypicalTimmy nice little story, but as far as Heroes of the Realms is concerned, it is kinda pointless to argue that they aren't MtG cards.

1. They were produced and distributed by WotC.
2. They function within the rules of MtG.
3. Their physical dimensions don't differ from other MtG cards.
4. They include trademarked symbols.

Legality and scarcity do not determine whether something is a MtG card.

Femme_Fatale Yes, but what's the point of a deck building website that doesn't have a complete card database? I bet I'm not the only one who is trying to add them to a list, even though we'll never own or play with them irl.

I build a deck with the Mystery Booster 2 Lutri, Pauper Otter (Playtest).

Currently, I'm trying to figure out:

1. New ways of circumventing Lutri's companion restriction that'll give me greater access to cards.

2. Streamlining the deck. I've tested it a bunch of times and usually, it ends up in a grindy 1 vs 1 with either Shark Typhoon/Murmuring Mystic as a token generator that will ultimately win the game by combat OR by pinging the opponent to death Guttersnipe etc. (Magmakin Artillerist+Tandem Lookout/Ophidian Eye is infinite at EOT if I've 8 or more cards in hand and a restricted hand size).

Any recommendations are highly appreciated, but pls keep Lutri's companion restriction in mind.

Hi man, better late than never. If you're still looking for two cards to cut than I'd recommend getting rid of:

• Poison Dart Frog great deterrent from attacking you, but it requires keeping up mana and it isn't the best at either generating mana or removal.
• Hedge Shredder low synergy with the rest of your cards. Doesn't get you ahead unless you're facing a mill deck. If it's about your commander crewing a vehicle, than I'd suggest the newly released Lumbering Worldwagon (you won't be able to crew it solely with your commander, but you've plenty of creatures that can help).
• Steelbane Hydra seems very mana inefficient. You could run something along the lines of Druid of Purification

I'm trying to make a deck with the above mentioned companion (Lutri, Pauper Otter (Playtest)) work and I'm looking for new ways of circumventing it's restriction. Can you think of any ways of "breaking" Lutri aside from the following:

• cards that don't have a colored expansion symbol: everything pre Exodus (1998); misprints with wrong the wrong symbol
• cards that don't have an expansion symbol: core and reprint sets until fifth edition (1997); textless cards; Secret Lair printings; Poster style cards (e.g., LotR); Playtest cards; physically removing/altering expansion symbols (cheating); miscuts (factory errors)
