Storm deck. Only possibly kinda remotely polite in cEDH. I mostly goldfish it when I'm alone to see how fast it can go off (usually turn 4 or 5).

The only thing I don't like about this format is that its not compatible with EDH. It's pretty fun, but it's silly to me that you can't play Oathbreaker decks vs EDH decks without making house rules. I think it makes sense for the formats to be able to mingle more easily. However it's also fun because its different from EDH too....so whatever. It's a fun format to play and building 60 card decks is easier to do than 100.

I only play standard on MTG Arena currently. I hadn't really played standard in decades before this software came out. I'm only ever posting decks that I feel are my brews in this specific category.

In February 2019 I sold out from the MTGO software, so I'm probably never updating these deck lists again. I did build them and test them so I could still answer questions. I'm just not interested in improving or updating them if I'm never going to play them.

Tokens and ramp spells can make you win in one attack all the time. Its very satisfying.

Under $100 and pretty good looking...

My Tips To Get Started Cubing

  • Building a cube is more like designing a magic set using only pre-existing cards then it is building a deck or even a bunch of decks. Basically you're trying to not only build in multiple overarching archetypes between the colors but you need to have as many cards overlap between those archetypes as possible. If you look at successful draft formats in Magic's history vs unsuccessful draft formats in Magic's history one of the reasons why a format is considered linear and boring is because the strategies don't have enough overlapping cards. So after like pick 3 you're just going to pick the same cards and build the same deck every time and there's no more decision-making involved in the draft. See Ixalan for example, either you are on a tribe or you aren't building a deck. And if you are fighting others for a tribe you all draft crappy decks. Lorwyn block solved this problem with the changeling mechanic, not sure why they didn't do something like that in Ixalan....you'd think they should have learned it was important already. Maybe they didn't learn it was an issue until they made a tribal set without hardly any inter-tribal cards.

  • You also want to make sure that there is good mana fixing because if you don't nobody can play more than two colors. For example drafting one of the 10 guilds in the current Ravnica sets could have been boring like Ixalan. However since the mana fixing is good enough to allow many multi-color deck combinations, and also the guild mechanics often compliment each other mechanically, there are way more decisions to make while drafting and deck building with those sets.

  • Make sure that the mana curve goes all the way up in each color and that it's fatter on the curve where you want the action to be happening. You will need to balance every single converted mana cost, in each color individually, amongst the different card types and strategies that you want to appear in your cube. You don't want there to be a hole anywhere in the mana curve of any important effect or card type in any color or strategy. It can be a tedious process, but it makes you search and discover cards you wouldn't have thought of too.

  • Throughout the process of me working on my Cube projects they each morphed into something that I didn't originally forsee. You may have an idea of what you think is a good plan already but nothing can truly compare to actually building it and testing it with others. But don't start buying everything right away because your project will likely change a lot throughout its process, especially at the beginning. I recommend proxying cards to try things a little before buying them even moreso than with a normal deck until you have it more figured out. It's not a sanctioned event, nobody will care if there are proxy cards.

  • If you get to test it with less than the amount of people you really want it can still be informative and fun so take whatever participation you can get. You can still see which cards people think are good and bad with only a few other people drafting with you. If a bunch of cards never get drafted after multiple tries, maybe there is a reason you can determine. Ask your friends questions about their choices. Look at the cards people drafted but didn't play as well as the decks they built. It can all help inform you on how to shape your personal draft format into everyone's favorite thing to do.

Top 8 1v1 Commander deck lists

My collection of paper EDH decks has been meticulously crafted for maximum power and mutual gameplay fun, while still maintaining a reasonable budget. Each one is different colors, different strategies, and different power levels from each other for playing against different kinds of opponents. I enjoy being able to play with different decks all the time to keep things interesting. I designed them all to be their own individual experiences, with as few overlapping cards and strategies as possible.

Except for Sol Ring, its in nearly every deck. I own like 20 of them now.

You can see from the picture that I have them all in their own deck boxes, each with a custom label on top. They are also all double sleeved and each box even contains the tokens the deck uses. No sense going to the trouble of assembling these decks and not making them nice to use and well protected.

My tier system is basically figured out by comparing and battling my decks against each other and vs. other people in my meta. How consistently and quickly it can win is a big factor, so is how much removal it has in it. I've seen other people have very complicated and specific ways of calculating the tier of a deck... mine is basically done by gut feeling and personal gameplay experience. Occasionally the decks shift up and down in my list when they get improved or outclassed by their peers.

Generally speaking control strategies and super efficient combo decks are tier 1, tuned mid-range battlecruiser decks are tier 2 and slower, more budget, or weird theme/tribal decks are tier 3 and below.

I just started my online account in December 2016. Many EDH power cards are waaaay cheaper online than on paper (although some vice versa), and I try to acquire as many of them as possible. So far most of my collection is only in Simic colors, which has helped me budget wise a lot. I have a bunch of decent to pretty good decklists figured out so far. I love deck building, its half the fun of this game for me. And the warm fuzzy feeling of ramping and countering spells is the other half of the fun.

I have always been a deck builder. I learned Magic in 1994 while I was in middle school. I distinctly remember a deck I built after Alliances came out that nobody at my school wanted to play against...it was something like 20x lands and all x4 ofs Sinkhole, Stone Rain, Hymn to Tourach, Dark Ritual, Lightning Bolt, Incinerate, Ball Lightning, Hypnotic Specter, Balduvian Horde, Order of the Ebon Hand. Later I got to play standard (then called type 2) with Fact or Fiction and Cunning Wish and Upheaval + Psychatog and it was awesome. Eventually around 2010 I felt I was done with the game and sold all my cards. Yeah I did. So many cards...that are so much more valuable now than when I sold them. It was a huge mistake that I don't even like to think about. When the first Commander precons came out, it got me back in...I bought all 5 of those decks, and it helped jump start a new collection. I've been Commandering ever since.
